Initial launch of Splunk Light, unable to open or configure

I downloaded and installed the Splunk Light .msi file and I can open up http://localhost:8000 but I cannot log in. The documentation says that http://localhost:8089 is the management URL but that continues to give me "page not found".

Does anyone have an idea what I might be missing?

I cannot install it as a "domain user", for whatever reason the installation does not appear to complete. If I try to log in with the default "local user" it tells me wrong username/password.

Hopefully I am just missing something simple but so far I am pretty stumped.

8089 is mainly used by splunk itself & is generally not the port you should point your browser at. Port 8000 is the default user interface port and is likely the one you want. The default login is admin/changeme

I get the exact same error when trying launch SpunkLite at this address http://localhost:8000/.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Does your browser display the Splunk Light login page at http://localhost:8000/? The username and password for your first login are admin/changeme, not the Windows user credentials.
