Changes to inputs.conf not working in UF

We're using a Universal Forwarder, I'm manually updating the inputs.conf file, I do not see the changes being reflected when searching on Splunk UI. I have restarted the forwarder. I'm not sure

Have you also configured outputs.conf?  Can you see the forwarder's internal logs in Splunk?  If not, then work on getting that working before enabling inputs.

What inputs did you update?  Does the UF have access to file?  Have you checked splunkd.log on the UF?
