New file with extension (dot).lock

Hi Folks,

Does anyone have idea of files with extension (dot).lock

Ordinarily these are files left by an application to claim exclusive write access to a file.

Now whilst it is true any application could choose to name its file something.lock and store anything it likes in them, the common convention is to blacklist them so that they do not get indexed as they are often empty, or contain binary data.
