I am trying to configure my forwarders to send data to our managed cloud environment. Most of the documentation I find is for enterprise or self-service to use splunk web. non of the guides out there seem to apply to my environment.

How is managed splunk cloud different from self-service?

There is documentation about forwarding that is specific to Splunk Cloud.

Self-service Splunk Cloud is a single-instance environment that you can pay for yourself directly from the web site. Managed Splunk Cloud is a clustered environment that you have to purchase through Splunk Sales. See Types of Splunk Cloud deployment in the Splunk Cloud User Manual for more information.
