After recently updating our single Splunk instance from version 7.3 to version 8.0.1, the export to PDF function has stopped functioning. Exporting to CSV, XML and JSON all still work.
In the application, after running a search or report and selecting the "export to PDF" function, here is the output:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
Could not parse xml reply (no reply from script). See splunkd.log for more info.
When I look in the splunkd.log file, I see this:
ERROR ScriptRunner - stderr from '/opt/splunk/bin/python2.7 /opt/splunk/bin/runScript.py pdfgen_endpoint.PDFGenHandler': fips_md.c(146): OpenSSL internal error, assertion failed: Digest update previous FIPS forbidden algorithm error ignored
Everything else appears to have updated fine. On a possible unrelated note, the "Splunk Platform Update Readiness App" never finishes scanning the applications even with "everyone" having write access.
