Why is renewing my developer license taking a lot longer than usual?

I write Splunk apps and have been using the Developer License for many years. My license expired and, like normal, I submitted a request for renewal. In the past, I usually got the license same day or the next day. After a week went by and no license, I tried it again. Another week. I tried a third time, thinking maybe it just got lost somewhere.

I checked my spam folder, and have also checked the "my licenses" portal. The portal only shows the previous licenses, and doesn't show any pending request.

Anyone else having issue getting developer licenses?

That's weird - I only see one recent request for you in the system and it was one I approved this morning. Did you receive a license email yet?

I'll file a bug report about this, but any additional detail you can provide would really help us out. When you submitted the request, do you remember if the system displayed the usual "Thanks - Your request for developer access has been received" message, or something else?

Howdy -

I just received the license today at 2:27pm central. Each time I requested it (total of 3), I basically did the same thing:

  1. went to dev.splunk.com with Firefox
  2. Clicked on Developer License in the toolbar at top
  3. clicked on item #2 to 'request your developer license'
  4. Got the "whoa! you've already got a license!" message, so it gave link to request renewal
  5. Clicked the link to request renewal
  6. I don't recall the exact screen I was given, but once I completed that step I received the usual "Thanks" message.

I wish I had the exact dates I tried the other two times.

Also, due to the license violations for 17+ days, it won't let me search without a reset license. Can I get that through you or do I need to call support?

Sent 🙂 Let me know when you get it though, I'm new to that system.

I've sent an email to the team to ask them to look into this.

Is there anything else that I would need to do if I'm facing the same issue? Should I create a new question to have them look into it?

Did you make a request before the one on October 7?

Nope that was the one (I just got it!). Sorry for being so impatient, my boss is finally considering it so I wanted to make a few apps to show her. Thanks for your help!
