Hi Team,

We are having 3 indexers (Indexer 1, Indexer 2, Indexer 3) on our environment, we are using them as a search head as well. We are planning to upgrade to 6.4 only one of the indexer (only Indexer 2). we have Indexer 1 as a License master. Please let me know is it possible to upgrade only one of our indexer to 6.4 and keep rest indexer are same in 6.2 version. This is not clustered environment.

Hi,

no you can´t uprade Indexer 2 to a higher Version than your License Master ones.

If you want to upgrade one of your Servers you need to take the one with the license master role.

Or you switch the license master role to another server and than upgrade it.

At least some infos from the Splunk Docs.

Abilan1, it's interesting to know why you were thinking about this direction.

I would upgrade all servers to 6.4 as we did here recently.

A good documentation at - Upgrade an indexer cluster

And Upgrade to 6.4 on UNIX
