Following the latest Splunkbase certification criteria, how can I ensure that my newly named app is available as the upgrade to the formerly named app?

Hi,

We are working on upgrading application which is already available on Splunkbase. The earlier version of application has different name (i.e Starting with SA-ProductName). However, as per the latest certification criteria, we have to name our application as (TA-...).

In this scenario, how will the upgrade process will be handled?

How can I ensure that this new application is available as the upgrade to the previous application (Old app has is_upgrade=1)?

Splunk depends on the ID defined in /default/app.conf only. Therefore, renaming the app will not affect the upgrade.

Upgrade option will be available only if you have same ID (Folder name) else it's separate app. If we have a scenario where an app was named for examples SA-ABC and now I am creating new version and naming it as TA-ABC, both becomes separate apps not same. Please correct me if I am wrong.
