Cannot install/update apps from Splunk 4.3.3 Web GUI

Hey guys,

Ever since I upgraded one of my indexers to Splunk 4.3.3, seems like I can no longer download apps via my proxy server.

I confirmed that my proxy is correctly defined in $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/splunk-launch.conf file:

...

http_proxy=$proxy_server:3128

https_proxy=$proxy_server:3128

...

I also confirm that my proxy server is seeing the traffic and accepting it:

...

1341584558.484 370 $splunk_indexer_ip TCP_MISS/200 14186 CONNECT splunkbase.splunk.com:443 - DIRECT/216.221.226.40 -

1341584558.603 106 $splunk_indexer_ip TCP_MISS/200 4939 CONNECT splunkbase.splunk.com:443 - DIRECT/216.221.226.40 -

...

However, when I try to download and app via the Splunk GUI, I get the following error message:

An error occurred while downloading the app: [HTTP 404] https://splunk_server:8089/services/apps/remote/entriesbyid/ui_examples

Prior to upgrading to 4.3.3, I had no issues downloading apps.

Any reason off the top why this may be happening?

Any help you can provide would be great.

I have looked into this further and now see that this is only an issue with the Chrome Browser. I do not experience this issue with Mozilla Firefox.

Sad how Google Maps API does not work on a Google Broswer. 😄

Anyone else having this issue?

This should probably be investigated by Splunk Support.

I am having this issue only with Splunk 4.3.3.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Filed a case with Splunk Support but haven't heard back from them on this yet. Any help would be much appreciated.
