Getting Data In

How can I remove input files if "splunk clean eventdata" didn't remove them?

I completely cleaned my index with "splunk clean eventdata" but my input files are still listed under Files and Directories in Splunk. Is there a way to completely remove the files? Or is it safe to assume the files are empty?

The Files & Directories section is the data inputs - these paths listed will be continuously monitored by splunk and indexed . The clean command removes the data from the Splunk indexes.

So yes after running the clean command your data has been removed from splunk, but as the file monitors are still active your data may be indexed again. Remove the inputs if you don't want the data to go into Splunk again.
