Can I use Splunk 6.5 to monitor Windows 7 hosts? My indexer is on Server 2012 so I know I can install 6.4.5 I just need to make sure it will still keep indexing data from my Windows 7 hosts.

You can still use 6.4 forwarder for Windows 7 and it will send fine to the newer indexer. I'm willing to bet that the newest version will also work with 7 it is just not supported.

I have had some customers successfully install 6.5.x on Win7, but it has a check to say that it's unsupported. Not sure why it didn't stop them from installing it in the first place...

But yes, it might install, but it is fully unsupported.
