Without forwarders, can we get details from other devices through script inputs?

Without forwarders, I'm wondering whether we can get details from other devices through script inputs?

I'm trying to fetch the details from devices through scripts that can be connected through SSH (neither Windows/Linux nor Solaris/mac) to index into Splunk Enterprise..

Does Splunk have the capability to fetch the details from other devices (non-os related) through scripts?
