I'm a little bit confused about how to get data from the linux servers to the *Nix app. Can I just add the servers from the home menu (Add data)? Or do I have to install the TA universal forwarder on all of the servers?

You install the Splunk Universal Forwarder, then you install the Unix TA into that.
