Jboss server running on linux - Check whether it is running or not?

Hi,

I want to create a server status dashboard. I want to check whether the jboss server running on linux os is up or not.
I cannot use any add-ons. It needs to be achieved using the simple splunk Search & Reporting app.

Is this achievable? If yes, please help.

Thanks in advance!

What is the logic you want to employ here? I could think of two options
1. Check for file updates when JBOSS is running. Like some file may be updated or process id entered on regular basis
2. Write a scripted inputs to check for process is running
