How to fix or recreate our deleted super user

Our Splunk instance was setup with a super user that has since been deleted. We do not know how to get back to the root for -splunk. How do I tell my Sys Admin to recreate the super user for Splunk?

Do you need to recreate the account that RUNS Splunk or the Splunk admin GUI account?

For the former, use the adduser command (or the equivalent for your environment) to create the account.  There are no special considerations.

For the latter, it's not an OS-provided account.  Try this CLI command

splunk cmd splunkd rest --noauth POST /services/admin/users/admin "password=<your password>"

Hi
You should add user into user-seed.conf file as described here https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.1.2/Security/Secureyouradminaccount
