Deployment Architecture

Do I need to set the cluster_label for the search head cluster deployer in the distributed management console?

In my environment, our license master has the following roles: license master, cluster master, Search Head Cluster deployer, server with Distributed Management Console.

As per the DMC documentation (http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.3.0/DMC/Setclusterlabels) I have set the cluster labels for the shcluster_label and cluster_label, but this server (the license master/deployer/server with DMC on it) isn't picking up the shcluster_label.

As per the documentation you do NOT set the shcluster_label on the deployer. Is it supposed to obtain this label somehow, or is this a subtle error?

You do, in fact, need to set the label on the deployer, if you set it on the search head cluster members. Please refer to: http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.3.0/DistSearch/SHCconfigurationoverview#Set_the_search...

Thanks, a little annoying that the complete documentation is split across two places...
Thanks for the assistance!!
