Manually add options to navigation menu

Please see the XML below, There is four headings in the navigation window (Search, Dashboards, Views, Search & Reports). Does anyone manually add the different options into the navigation views. I am having difficulty with this XML, as the keywords are not matching up; dashboards fitting under "Views etc", can anyone provide me with a sample XML?

To add options to navigation menu, you may edit default.xml at:

E:\Program Files\Splunk\etc\apps\search\default\data\ui\nav

File Contents could be like:

</nav

Post that you can create a your desired xml at as per your requirement:

E:\Program Files\Splunk\etc\apps\search\default\data\ui\views\MyNewIcon1.xml

Though I have not tested it yet but you can check like the same.
