Dashboards & Visualizations

Leading/trailing space in valueSuffix/valuePrefix Simple XML element disappears when I save a viz as a new panel to an existing dashboard?

I have a Splunk 7.3 dashboard that contains the following Simple XML:

<valuePrefix>"Average </valuePrefix>
<valueSuffix> Time"</valueSuffix>

That is, the <valuePrefix> element contents has a trailing space, and the <valueSuffix> element contents has a leading space. This works.

However, whenever I create a new visualization (in the default Search app), and then select the options to add that visualization as a new panel to that existing dashboard, the trailing and leading spaces disappear from those elements.

Is this a known issue?

If so: is there a workaround?

Have you tried a non breaking space?

" & nbsp;" -no space between & and n though

Or URL encoded space

 " %20 "
