7,1 is a horrible upgrade to the UI from 7.0 and earlier. The row size of a table is much taller, the font is like something from a 1970's computer screen and I can fit far less information on a screen than I used to.
Splunk say they have modernised the look and feel - please!
Any way to change how tables/fonts display in dashboards?
You can customize dashboards using CSS within simpleXML. However, this may change once you upgrade again. To get started, look at these pages:

Agreed. Unfortunately I do not have an answer. Don't like these new airy designs that make a $1k monitor show as much data as a 1024x768 CRT.
I just compared a 7.0 to 7.1 and noticed that 7.1 upgrade had deleted most fonts from $SPLUNK_HOME/share/splunk/search_mrsparkle/exposed/fonts. Number of CSS files is ridiculous, no way wading through them, it would take a lifetime.
To me it looks installing a separate 7.0.x search head to use with this 7.1.1 indexer is the only way to proceed in this misery.
..and, even worse, some, if not all 7.1.1. webui fonts are p-r-o-p-o-r-t-i-o-n-a-l.
Using proportional fonts in the user interface may seem artistic vs. formal/dull fixed fonts, but it makes reading reports and dashboards with many numbers and tags and labels and all that on many rows very hard indeed.
Oh ****.
