This Week From Splunk Answers + New Moderators! ✍️

Screen Shot 2022-02-18 at 2.21.47 PM.pngThe Splunk Answers community wouldn’t be such a welcoming and helpful space without our site moderators. These super-active folks are a combination of Splunk employees and community members. Right now we are in the process of onboarding and training seven new mods from the community who we are so happy to recognize for superb contributions and willingness to go above and beyond for their fellow members. These people are deeply involved in helping the Splunk community to be as strong and safe as it can be. The following members are here to bring even more positive and genuine vibes to the world of Splunk Answers!

@ITWhisperer , @PickleRick , @SanjayReddy , @SinghK , @Stefanie , @tscroggins , @VatsalJagani

We also want to give a shout-out to several of you who received your first karma point on Splunk Answers from a fellow member this past week! Hopefully, it feels all warm and fuzzy to get some community love and that shiny little badge, too. 🏆

Global User Groups Week Recap + Upcoming Events! 👏

The second annual Global Splunk User Group week was another success! With 25 events and more than 200 attendees, Splunk Users all around the world gathered April 4-8 to connect, collaborate, and learn all things Splunk! For many User Groups, this was their first time meeting in-person in over 2 years. Thank you to all who participated! To join your local Splunk User Group, visit usergroups.splunk.com.

April Upcoming User Group Events:

  • Minneapolis User Group 4/26 - (In-person) [RSVP] Meet and geek with other Splunk Users, enjoy complimentary refreshments, and just enjoy being in person again. Informal event; no presentation. It's Taco Tuesday at BlackStack Brewing!
  • Perth Western Australia User Group 4/27 - (In-person) [RSVPIt's been a while since our last in-person catch-up. Join us again to hear all that's new at Splunk, meet some cool Splunkers, and hear some great success stories. On top of that, enjoy a bite to eat and a beverage (or two) on us. And last but not least, meet our newest Splunk Perth employees, Barry and Bruce.
  • Chicago User Group 4/28 - (Virtual) [RSVP] Have you ever wanted to build your own Splunk app but not known where to begin? This workshop is for you! Learn how to create Splunk apps that extend the capabilities of the Splunk platform to meet your unique needs. We'll walk through the new Get Started Tutorial, which outlines the process for developing an app, from creating knowledge objects to setting up permissions and other customizations. This workshop is packed with information for novice app developers and will include lots of hands-on instruction.
  • Fort Worth User Group 4/28 (in-person) [RSVP] An ingest-time eval is a type of transform that evaluates an expression at index-time. No longer rely on regular expression transforms to get indexed fields. Normalize your data better.

As always, you can search the full list of User Groups to find meetups in all locations! As we finally shift into more in-person meetups and/or hybrid, there are still plenty of virtual opportunities for you to join!
