problem with tab focus in dashboard in splunk 7.3

we have created dashboard in splunk using tabs as per below URL and its perfectly working fine.

https://www.splunk.com/en_us/blog/tips-and-tricks/making-a-dashboard-with-tabs-and-searches-that-run...

Dashboard was created in 7.0 version but recently splunk has been upgraded to 7.3. Since upgrade we have been facing issue with the tab focus. That means, when we click on any tab, a blue line is shown under the tab to know, user is on which tab but when user clicks on another tab, blue line remain on previous tab as well as comes on new tab. That means if user clicks on multiple tabs one by one then for each clicked tab there are blue lines which becomes confusing for user. Ideally, when user clicks on new tab, blue line(focus) should get removed from previous tab and should be always be on the latest clicked tab.

Issue seems to be either with tabs.css or tabs.js but we are unable to identify it. Can some one look into these two files from the above link and suggest what can be modified to rectify this error.

Thanks in advance!

@sbhatnagar88 please dont post the same question everyday also do not use multiple IDs to post same question. If you want your existing post to get proper attention please use the original question and post any updates that you have.

Consider Splunk Answers Question as an email thread where you can post comments and converse with Splunk community experts. Until there is an answer posted against your question, it will still flag as unanswered and can be Featured based on views so that it gets appropriate attention.

Do understand that the assisting Splunkers in the community is purely passion for Community Experts and we all tend to spend time on Answers during leisure time or after work. Please anticipate delays in responses, but rest assured an unanswered question with correct updates and necessary details gets proper attention.

If you need urgent help I would request you to reach out to Splunk Support or Professional Service or contact the developer (do it on original question using @ mention).

Thanks @niketnilay for replying. I just have one ID which is sbhatnagar88 not sure about which other ID you are talking about here. Also, this is an old post and this issue has already been taken care.

As far as using new .js and .css files is concerned, these files were already been used even before posting this question, but issue still persisted at that time , later we need to change the HTML code behind the dashboard to get it rectified. (fix was: same ul id has to be used for each tab. For example:ul id="tabs" has to be used across all the places where tab functionality is needed.

AS of now tabs are working fine. How ever, I was wondering is there any way to highlight the path of navigation. For example: If user is at last level of tabs, can the traversed path be highlighted.

@sbhatnagar88 post your own answer for 7.3 tab focus which worked as an answer to this question and post a separate question for highlighting the selected tabs. From what I understand you need bread-crum kind of view and highlight the traversed path which is a completely different use case compared to the present one where only one tab opens at a time. It can be randomly any tab out of available tabs and the code need not maintain which previous tab was clicked. With bread-crum you can proceed in a specific sequence and traversing back removed the progress. All the above logic need to be coded. So please post a new question with your use case and necessary details so that community can help. By any chance is this App setup kind of navigation because that is already available?

@gjanders seems like there are multiple duplicates of this question posted on Answers. The original question (difficult to find because of several duplicates and fact that two user IDs have been used to post these question) seems to be https://answers.splunk.com/answers/809361/issues-with-tab-focus-in-post-splunk-733-upgrade.html

I had already suggested updated code by Luke Murphy. So we would need to understand what has been tried and what seems to be broken.

I have converted your answer to comment. But will reach out to Community Specialists to how to restrict duplicates and keep the correct Question going on until we find the actual issue and fix.
