Explorer

We are currently on version 6.0.2 of Splunk. When will this version be out of support?
Where can we reference the releases and support dates, in general?

Hello: Please refer to the Support agreement, https://www.splunk.com/web_assets/pdfs/support/SplunkSupportAgreement.pdf

Given you are asking when version 6.x is no longer under support, the appropriate answer is version 8.x. At this point, there is no release date for v8.x so it is a good ways into the future (at least 12-18 months, likely longer). Please check your Service Description and agreement at the point of renewal in case of changes to these terms. This is as of August 2015.

Section 2.6.9
Software Upgrades and Software End of Life Policy. When available, Splunk provides updates, upgrades, maintenance releases and reset keys only to Splunk Support customers. Software comes with a three digit number version. The first digit represents the major release (i.e. upgrade), the second digit identifies the minor releases (i.e. updates) and the third digit identifies the maintenance releases. With a new major version, the number to the left of the decimal is changed and for minor releases, the number to the right of the decimal point is increased. Subject to the foregoing, Splunk provides full Support, including, when available, bug fixes, only on the current major release and (a) the immediately prior major release or (b) twenty-four months from the then current major release, whichever period is greater (“Supported Prior Versions”).
