Splunk free vs trial enterprise

Engager

Greetings,

I have been running Splunk now for a while on a free license. This morning I upgraded to 4.2 and now splunk is asking again for my username and password and saying I am using a trial license.

The default admin/changeme does not work.

Any thoughts how to get splunk back to the free version?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Normally renaming (or deleting) the folder "licenses" in splunk/etc and restarting splunk should put you back into free license.

Removing the download_trial folder including the file therein solved the problem, thanks for the help.

Hey guys,
What's the difference between trial and free in terms of indexer cluster and search heads cluster?

Pity that nobody answered 🙂
Here's the answer - https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.0.1/Admin/MoreaboutSplunkFree

Trial != Free for clustering features.

The discussion and the problem is not quite relevant to the title.
