Is there a way to tell if an app is a TA or a Dashboard?
In case i'm not explaining it correctly: when i log into splunk cloud, there is a drop down with lots of installed application. Some apps will open into a nice dashboard while others do not open and you have to just run queries against it in the search. the ones that do not open a dashboard are called a TA?
You can install the Analysis Of SplunkBase Apps for Splunk
app:
https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/2919/
This allows you to search the specifics and contents of apps with much greater granularity and specificity. It provides a simple dashboard with App stats and allows you to search for Splunk Apps within Splunk and was designed to work if you are offline, as long as you have been online once to collect data. It can be used to determine which Apps are certified to work with Splunk Cloud, Hunk, ES, etc.
NOTE: Firefox does not seem to like loading he dynamic menus, please use any other major browser.
There is official documentation for this question:
https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/latest/Admin/Whatsanapp
Very generally, if it has a savedsearches.conf
or a *.xml
, it is an App
, otherwise it is some kind of TA
