Hi chaninphx!

Welcome to Splunk!

Once you download an App (think dashboards, vizualizations, alert actions, etc) or Technical add-on ( aka TA, think data collection and parsing logic, etc) you can install with these steps, assuming you are on a "standalone" instance of Splunk. ie you installed in on your laptop,

https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/AddOns/released/Overview/Singleserverinstall

If you are in a 'distributed environment", the instructions are here:

https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/AddOns/released/Overview/Distributedinstall

PRO TIP - Splunk has top notch documentation available at docs.splunk.com, and one easy way to find what you are looking for is heading to google and typing 'Splunk' and then the topic or answer you are looking for, and you should be led to docs or this great repo of knowledge known as Splunk Answers.

I am assuming that you are not using a Deployment Server (yet) or other configuration management tool for your Search Head so all you need to do is go to Apps -> Manage apps -> Browse more apps -> Search for "Google Maps" -> Install and do it directly from Splunkbase -> Search Head without saving to a file at all. If you really would like to do it from a file, then instead of Browse more apps, select Install app from file.
