We are using Lite for dot net on a web server and everything is working except that snapshots are not being generated. There is lots of activity but we can't get any detail. The settings in Configure\Snapshots are at default.

As far as I can tell it's set up the same was as on our other platform and it's working ok there.

I have attached the log file.

Thanks,

Matt

3. Restart IIS.

4. Provide load to the application

After completing these steps, if you still see NO snapshots, please send us complete logs (you can locate logs in  "C:\AppDynamics\Logs" folder)

Hi Matt,

Iam looking at the latest logs you attached and I found that the agent is unable to connect to the controller. See below error:

======================================================================================

2014-01-09 15:07:07.1458 6908 w3wp 1 Warn ConfigurationChannel Invalid response for configuration request from controller/could not connect to controller. Msg : System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8990

=======================================================================================

I have few questions -

1. Were you able to connect to the controller successfully via the 'Test Controller Connection' from the agent configuration wizard? Please see the screenshot attached. If you are getting any error, please share the screenshot of the error.

2. Can you check if the port 8990 that is being used is not blocked or has some firewall settings from your network admin team.

3. Are you using SSL Port for the controller, If so, can you please check if you have the required certificates by following instructions given in the below doc links:

       (a) http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO13S/Enable+SSL+%28.NET%29
       (b) http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO13S/Controller+SSL+and+Certificates

Thanks,

Vishnu

Hi Matt,

I just figured out that you are using a Lite version of Appdynamics. Appdynamics Lite has a differnet setup where agent and controller are installed on the same machine.

So, please ignore step(3) of my earlier post. Just run the test mentioned in the step(1) and let us know the resutls.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks,

Vishnu

Hi Matt,

Sorry for all the confusion. Please ignore all of my previous posts. Appdynamics Configuration wizard is not available in the lite version.

Although from the error, it is clear that agent is unable to connect to the controller, the entire time range of the logs is only 3 minutes. And the error could be the time when the IIS RESET is being done.

In order to make sure you have the sufficient load on the application to get the metrics collected and reported to the Lite Viewer, please give sufficient load to the application for about 5 to 10 minutes and click on the refresh button on the Lite Viewer to see the snapshots. Please see the attached screenshot for reference.

Thanks,

Vishnu
