Question about Android instrumentation -- we don't use Apache HttpClient or java.net

My company uses a popular open source library named OkHttp for HTTP networking in several Android apps (http://square.github.io/okhttp/).

We are already working on an AppDynamics install in several areas, including Android apps, but I was recently informed that the AppDynamics Android agent doesn't instrument this library and therefore the agent would be of little or no value to us on Android apps that use OkHttp.

I looked in the docs (http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO39/Instrument+an+Android+Application) but I can't seem to find anywhere that documents exactly what networking libraries AppDynamics instruments. I'd like to clarify this point first (does it instrument specific libraries, or work at a lower level?), and then if OkHttp is not supported ask if there is some way we can extend the instrumentation ourselves to support additional libraries, or if there is a roadmap, etc.

thanks

Hi Charlie,

Apologies for the delay in response, you are using right channel but somehow this query got missed somehow could be because query in wrong category instean under Mobile section, Can you raise help ticket for this by emailing your query to help@appdynamics.com Or raise request at https://help.appdynamics.com/tickets/new for fast response as the Mobile team might have missed due to query raised under "Lite for JAVA" section/category

Regards,

Arun
