Hi we are developing a multi-tier application and some of the services like - database, search etc. will be provided as platform services (PaaS) to be consumed by SaaS/Application layer. Since multiple application will consume same service wanted to get your perspective on how to model such things. Shall these tiers be shared across each application ? How ? That seems logical way to do it.

Hi Sandip,

We apologize for delay in response, We understood that your setup have multiple services that does the same purpose, we would recommend the configure multiple tiers for agents on jvms that communicates with those different services/backends if you want to see the communication between different web applications configured under different tiers under one application flow view.

If you want to see the flow view between tier1/jvm and tier2/jvm where both tiers does calls to remote serivces/backends not under same application dashboard than the application-name should be different for tier1 and tier2 , hope that information helps.

Refer more info at doc link: http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO14S/Logical+Model

Arun
