Hello all,

i wrote a PowershellScript to become new HardwareRessource-Metrics, like

Printer Count,

Count of processes

Memory of processes ...

Problem when i do some tests, i change often the path in the metric browser tree.

I have a lot of metrics which are not more in usage.

How is the way to delete old metrics/pathes in the metric browser?

Thanks

regards

Martin

Hi Arun,

thank's for your answer.

it's very bad, because when we delete the complete tier we lose complete all other historical datas, too.

But when we have no choice, we must be very carefully with new metrics.

regards

Martin

Hi Martin,

Thanks for writing in. Currently we do not see an option to delete metrics registered in metric browser..
We can only delete metrics that are under tier by deletion the tier from the corresponding dashboard in UI.

Say, you have machine agent register under app/tier app1/tier1 then deleting tier tier1 from UI, will delete the metircs but if the machine agent metrics are registered under other tiers in the same application app1 then we need to delete applciation app1 from UI.

Please be sure that deleting the app or tier will delete all the data including app server agent nodes, BTs if any registered under the app/tier that we are trying to delete, hence we do not recommend to delete tier/app as it deletes the other historical data as well.

Please let us know if that answers your query or let us know if you have further concerns.

Thanks,

Arun

Hi Martin,

Thanks for posting back. Yes, as we mentioned earlier in our initialy response we do not have option to delete only custom metrics, apart from deleting tier/app and deleting app/tier will delete all the data hence we do not recommend this option.

Yes, your understanding is right, we must be carefull before creating new metrics. we suggest you to either finalize the new metric name  before configuring custom metrics or try first in your test labs to test new metrics and then once you are ok with new metric pattern then we suggest you to try in prod apps.

We would like to inform that we have internal feature request to delete metric from metric browser, but we currently do not have ETA of the feature. Let us know if you have further concerns.

Thanks,

Arun
