Manage Configuration

Hi

I'm interested in a concept about how to manage the entire configuration of an application in AppDynamics.

Managing would need to include:

- export configuration of all customized elements (instrumentation, alerting, scripts, dashboards)

- versioning configuration: e.g keept track of versions for different staging environments and different application versions (could be done in some tool, but maybe there are best practices)

- import configuration e.g to migrate configuration from pre-prod to prod or for a former application version

If there is some mechansime to do export/import, that would be great for a start. Documentation mentions parts of it, but I can't find the entire process.

Regards

Markus

Hi Markus,

As of now we support following export settings for rules referred in doc link, which you could be aware of:

https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO40/Export+and+Import+Business+Application+Configurations

https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO40/Create+and+Import+or+Export+JMX+Metric+Configurations

https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO40/Export+and+Import+Custom+Dashboards

https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO40/Import+and+Export+Health+Rule+Configurations

https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO40/Import+and+Export+Transaction+Detection+Configuration

We do not have any feature/option that will maintain version of config as of now in UI. Can you check if features referred in all above doc links covers all the settings you are looking for to import/export?

Regards,

Arun
