Is there any way to script the creation of alerts in AppDynamics?

Thanks,

Hi Anna,

Do you mean run a script to get the value of a metric and trigger an alert when it crosses a threshold? Scripts can be run from the MachineAgent http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO13S/Build+a+Monitoring+Extension+Using+Scripts

Or did you mean have a script executed when an alert (Policy violation) is triggered? This can be done as an action http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO13S/Remediation+Actions

Cheers,

Mick

Hi,

I don't mean either of those things. I mean, is there a way to script the creation of an alert?

I couldn't find any reference to this in the REST docs.

Thanks,

Anna

Hi Anna,

Thanks for the clarification. We understood that you want to create alert using REST API, Currently we do not see an option to create alert using REST as per docs:
http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO13S/Use+the+AppDynamics+REST+API

Let us know if that clarifies your query. Please feel free to file an enhancement request.

Thanks,

Arun
