Check database availability

Hi,

Im using AppDynamics Pro 4.0.4.0.

How could I check a database availability in order to create a health rule based on a metric like, for example, Application Infrastructure Performance -> Agent -> App -> Availability?

Im thinking of doing something with a machine agent in the database server, but it should be something out of the box with the database agent to accomplish that.

Database Monitoring has tons of metrincs but no one just to check if the database instance is up or down.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Jose.

Hi Jose,

We could not find in DB Mon but can you check if below metrics listed in screenshot will help given that no thread < 1 connected and no connections estabilisted for last 5 minutes as such , theoritically chances are high db server is down (assuming no network issues between db agen and db server)
