indexing DB data directly via Splunk Query and not DBConnect App.

I have a SQL query that pulls data from DB and pushes to an Index in Splunk.
Is there a way I can push data to an index via splunk query and not via DBConnect App GUI ?

I read about
|dbquery command. But that just displays results . It does not PUSH data to any index.
