Hm... I'm not sure what's happening and it all seems to be working fine for myself and other users, but let me recap how the links work:
From a Sideview app page, like:
http://sideviewapps.com/apps/splunk-for-cisco-cdr/
there will be a link that says "Download Trial version". If you click that you're taken to a page where you have to accept the trial license and give an email address. Submitting that, you'll get sent an email and the email will have a link in it. That link is designed to work only once.
((More precisely, it'll work the first time you click it, and it'll continue to work for 5 minutes thereafter. But after that 5 minutes the link wont work, and if you click it you'll get this error page: http://sideviewapps.com/invalid-link/?type=linkAlreadyUsed ))
Where things go wrong most often:
1) the automated email gets flagged as spam and moved to a spam folder, or deleted outright.
-- solution= use a different email address or go throttle your email admin (kidding!)
2) the user is right-clicking the download link in their email and doing "save target as" and saving it as a tar.gz file. This will result in a nice HTML error message telling you that the link is expired, being saved as a tar.gz file. It will thereafter look like a corrupted tar.gz file but of course it's just an HTML page...
Let me know which particular area you're seeing a problem in - are you getting the email with the download link but the link isn't working? or are you accepting the license but you never receive the email at all? I'll come back and update my answer.
