Splunk App for AWS 3.0: Was the logging of instance information into "aws-data" index completely removed in the latest release?

In the 2.0 release of Splunk App for AWS information about instances was indexed in "aws-data" but that no longer seems to be the case.

When I manually create the index, it is automatically recognized by SplunkAppforAWS but it doesn't appear to be collecting any new data. Was this logging completely removed from 3.0? If so, is there any other method to gather this information. The config data logging doesn't appear to be exactly what I want.

Unfortunately the logging that used to write to aws-data has been removed in the new version of the app.
