The Splunk 6 launcher (localhost:8000/en-US/app/launcher) displays apps in reverse alphabetical order - "Splunk App for..." comes before "Asset Discovery", for example. Likewise for the "Apps" drop-down at the top of the page (the 'appbar'?). How can I change them to display apps in alphabetical order?
You can drag and drop the panels in Launcher to your preferred order. That will also change the order of the items in the dropdown.

dragging panels in Launcher doesn't change order in the apps' dropdown in the upper left corner. Or which dropdown did you mean?
@dlamas_splunk - What value would we set the appOrder attribute to if we wanted apps to be sorted alphabetically by default for new users (before they change the order themselves)?
We store this order in user-prefs.conf under the appOrder attribute- there's a local and default version of this. If the user drags and drops the panels, we'll save their specific order to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/users/USERNAME/user-prefs/local/user-prefs.conf
To set the default for all users, go to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/user-prefs/default/user-prefs.conf
@dlamas_splunk - How do you change the ordering for all users? This workaround only affects the current user. This is a breaking change from the previous launcher page.
