How to resolve being unable to access Splunk Web and receiving Error 1000 in Windows Logs?

Using Splunk Enterprise (Trial) x64 on Windows 10E 1703

I can't access the Splunk Web UI at all - I just get a "Refused to connect" error.

When I stop and restart the SplunkD Service, I get this error in the Windows logs:

  ```
Faulting application name: server.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5886f029
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.15063.0, time stamp: 0xb79b6ddb
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Splunk\etc\apps\splunk_app_db_connect\windows_x86_64\bin\server.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Report Id: 31ef65c5-6bbd-4666-a6c6-6adce32da5d0
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:
```

I tried repairing the application via Add/Remove programs, but it didn't work.

I'm pretty noob-ish to Splunk, so go easy

THX

Splunk Enterprise isn't supported on Windows 10 at this time. There were enough changes to the Service Runtime model in Windows 10 that it'll probably be the next major patch release before it is supported.

Installation Guide for your convenience: http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.6.2/Installation/Systemrequirements
