How to install and configure Splunk App for Stream with a Network TAP to monitor wire data?

I'd like to be able to sniff all the wire data passing through the network using Splunk App for Stream. I'm leaning towards a Network TAP to avoid dropped packets.

My question is: how can Splunk App for Stream be installed and configured to work with a Network TAP? Anyone out there tried this yet? Any recommendations on how best to approach this?

Thanks!

Yes, Splunk App for Stream works great with TAPs, SPAN ports and packet broker devices. I've used and been happy with devices from NetOptics and Datacom Systems. Most important is to use good ethernet cards in the server such as Broadcom or Intel (the latter being my preferred choice). You can easily put together something nowadays capable of handling multi-gigabits worth of traffic, for well under $10k.
