How do I troubleshoot why the Eventgen app is not generating any logs?

I tried installing the Eventgen app for Splunk. I followed proper installation steps, but I don't find logs getting generated. Even the eventgen.log file doesnt say anything. Please find the eventgen.log below:

2015-09-03 14:00:50,872 INFO Running as Splunk embedded
2015-09-03 14:00:50,903 INFO Retrieving eventgen configurations with ConfigParser()

i tired the below solution and it started getting logs:

  • Add the evengent.py file to the app/bin folder
  • changed the folder name "eventgen-master" to "SA-Eventgen" (strange that after this i started getting logs)
  • Check the password and username which is entered in evengen.conf file
