Downloaded DB Connect version 3, on Splunk version 7. I also downloaded a recent version of Java 8 and set the permissions to it, as well as untarred and set the permissions on the DB Connect installation, but even after restarting Splunk and restarting the machine, the task server will not start.
I have checked that port 9998 (the default task server port) is open and that the permissions to Java are correct.
When DB Connect was untarred, a chmod
command was run against it. Unfortunately, this ended up removing executable permissions from the bash script inside the app that starts the task server.
Removed the app, untarred it again and ran chown
instead, set the Java path and restarted Splunk, and then it worked.
