Add-on for JIRA for Splunk 6.6.3

Has anyone gotten this to work on Splunk 6.6.3 or later? I've followed the instructions but it doesn't return any results

Deployment

1. Place the app into $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/jira
2. Create a folder named local, copy default/jira.conf into local, and update with configuration specific to your instance.
3. Copy $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/jira/bin/config.ini.sample to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/jira/bin/config.ini and update with your authentication credentials Configure which keys to display in the table with the keys, time_keys, and custom_keys fields.
4. configured your server and credential then copy to local/inputs.conf

Using 6.6.1 and also having some problems. Setup seems ok, a thing I made sure is the new folders and files to be owned by the splunk user (running enterprise in azure, using the arm template setup).

What I am having trouble with , are some of the search commands, which seem to give completely strange output. I am not getting empty output, but just inconsistent output compared to what I am expecting. Especially jqlsearch seems to not work, as well as issues.
