Can i get help with how i can download the older version of splunk forwader. The 9.0.5 specifically. It's not amongst the older versions releases list. The newer ones from 9.1...... is not compatible with my kali's OPENSSL version

Contact Splunk Support. They should be able to provide the desired version.

1. Splunk provides only supported versions for normal download. In case you need an older one you must ask support directly. They might ask why you want an unsupported version.

2. I don't understand. UF uses own bundled OpenSSL version as far as I remember.

You might find the following helpful for downloading 9.0.5 if this is the version you need: https://livehybrid.github.io/downloadSplunk/?version=9.0.5

You can adjust the target OS etc as required, note 9.0.5.1 UF download URL doesnt work.
