      <description>&lt;P&gt;You could configure Splunk to listen on port 80 or 443, but that requires running Splunk as root, which is strongly discouraged.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Your best option probably is to use a proxy or other network device to map port 80 to port 8000.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
