capturing ping results

Hi,
my requirement is to write a script which can execute ping command and check the results on Splunk search
Can I create a windows batch (.bat file) file and execute that batch file from within Splunk? If yes what are the settings which I need to add.

Thanks!!

Yes. Splunk has scripted inputs, which does what you ask for. More information is available in the docs. http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/latest/Developer/ScriptedInputsIntro
