Hi all,

I have done a fair bit of testing of a problem that I've been having[1] and am convinced that it is a bug with the universal forwarder. Can anyone tell me how I can go about raising a bug report?

[1] http://answers.splunk.com/answers/137846/outputsconf-sslpassword-not-hashing-if-placed-under-the-tcpout-stanza?page=1&focusedAnswerId=138021#138021

If you have an Enterprise support agreement, you should submit a support case and the support engineer can file the defect for you.

I've just tried going to the bug page now and it looks to be working fine. Just keeps in mind that, unless you have a valid Splunk license attached (or associated?) with your Splunk logon account then you will get a message stating "It appears you do not have an active Support Contract".

The reason the link redirects you to Sales force, I believe, is because that's what Splunk uses for tracking customer tickets. It should use SSO so you can login with your splunk.com account and be redirected to the SalesForce page where you can raise a bug report.

Finally, the link to raise a bug report appears at the bottom of every page in Splunk - between the links for Documentation and Support.

The link mentioned by you has the "name" http://www.splunk.com/r/bugs but is linking to http://www.splunk.com/r/bug 😉

The link to raise a bug at the bottom of a page (file a bug) links to http://www.splunk.com/r/bugs like yaMatt stated ... and ends up in a 404 error.
So Splunk is not interested in getting bug reports?

Splunk definitely is; please file a customer support ticket. When I click the "File a bug" link in my installation, it takes me to the "Submit a case" page on the web.

@dsrvem, I dont think the link is broken. You can raise a bug only if you have active Support Contract or entitlement.

If not, you can also use Splunk Answers create a new Question with your use case and what functionality you feel is broken or bug in Splunk. Splunk Answers will suggest you similar issues already reported as hints. If your issue is not already listed or answered on Splunk Answers, do go ahead and post your query with as much details (mock data/scenario/query etc). Community members would be able to confirm whether it is a bug and may also be in a position to provide your with a workaround (if present).

If the issue is impacting several Splunkers, someone else facing the same issue with Splunk Entitlement may be able to open bug report on your behalf.
