Sorry to open up an old thread I'm seeing the same dashboard issues with Chrome & IE11 where Firefox & Edge render correctly. According to this post (https://answers.splunk.com/answers/33437/supported-browsers.html) Chrome is now supported.

The behaviour is that panels randomly do not display results, instead just displaying "No results found".

This is becoming a major adoption issue - any guidance would be appreciated.

Chrome support?

Splunk doesn't seem to work with Chrome- for me at least. Is this a known condition? Is there a roadmap?

Thanks

I've been using Splunk with Chrome almost exclusively for several months now, through several versions of Chrome on Windows and Mac on different machines, and I've found it works as well as any other browser. (Certainly better than IE6.) Perhaps there is something in your installation? Have you tried on another machine?

It's not officially supported, and I don't know if it's on the roadmap for official support, but since it does use the same rendering engine as Safari (which is supported) and Chrome and Safari are very standards-compliant, it should work in practice.

Odd. I get very inconsistent results with simple dashboards. Very often, though not 100% of the time, charts and graphs fail to populate on dashboards, though the same searches consistently display properly when run by themselves.

I'll take a video and open a case.

Officially, Chrome is not supported and is in a "use at your own risk" state. This is mostly because we don't have test automation around the browser, and so can't guarantee functionality. We prioritize based on browser market share (of our actual users), and Chrome is pretty far down the list.

Unofficially, Splunk works fine with Chrome for Windows. Chrome for OSX and Linux are only in beta, and do exhibit oddities. Internally, we do have developers who like using Chrome and generally don't have any issues.

We absolutely encourage users to report bugs, so please do let us know what's wrong by either posting here or going through the support system.

I also have noticed a small issue with Google Chrome as mentioned by Pete (pde) above, where charts and graphs don't populate (in the report_builder at least). If you click "Apply" which kicks off a redraw of the chart (even if no changes have been made), it then displays fine. It just doesn't display initially when the report_builder view is kicked up.

I've logged it with Support, #40463

Not a big issue, we just have a number of developer users who like to use Chrome because they think they are special. They complain that Splunk doesn't work, I tell them to use IE, everything is fine. It just doesn't give them a good first impression is all.

I experience the same issues as pde in Chrome, namely charts randomly not loading. Everything works fine in IE. Would definitely appreciate full Chrome support.

I have experienced the same problems around chart formatting. If I build a dashboard with multiple charts, randomly some charts will display and others won't. I thought this might be a search concurrency problem but turning of the number of concurrent searches for my user didn't help, and using Firefox seemed to fix the problem (though firefox may be firing off fewer concurrent web requests).

Also chrome does not properly scale the graphical reports (the flash objects, specifically), when you hit the print button, whereas Firefox visibly scales the output down to fit an 8.5x11 inch sheet of paper (or A4).

It's too bad, though, because Chrome is much much faster at rendering the splunk UI than Firefox, at least on my computers. When I switch to Firefox everything appears to happen in slow-motion, which is very frustrating after months of Chrome use. So for now I just use Firefox for generating reports for management, using dashboards, etc, and do the rest in Chrome.
