      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi! I'm a mainframe pro with experience in Cobol,DB2 development and i just happened to get interested in splunk through general reading on the net. Are there any prerequisites to learning Splunk?&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Please guide me as to how i should go about picking up the new skill to be employable.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;The Flow in splunk would be&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;LI&gt;Data Consumption through Forwarders&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Data Indexing By Splunk Indexers&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Dashboard and apps for reporting&lt;/LI&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;No prior study is required, in fact I recommend against it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;
Download Splunk, install it, download some apps that suit the software you have on your systems.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;
Get some data indexed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;
When you're done with that, you can start reading/researching, and the tutorial will make much more sense.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;
