&lt;P&gt;Are you referring to breaking the events or splitting something by an entity in the statistics view?&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;If the latter, you would simply add a by clause like this &lt;/P&gt;

&lt;PRE&gt;&lt;CODE&gt;index=... sourcetype=...
| stats count by host
