How to get rid of web console error?

Error in 'rtlitsearch' command: Your Splunk license expired or you have exceeded your license limit too many times. Renew your Splunk license by visiting www.splunk.com/store or calling 866.GET.SPLUNK.

I am facing this error in Splunk free edition after 3 violations.. how can I become free from this error and after how many days this error will go from my web console??

Hi @amoljire,

if you're in violation and you haven't a license, you cannot have a reset code to pass to free.

the easiest way is to:

make a copy of the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc and $SPLUNK_HOME/var/lib/splunk (or the one where indexes are stored) folders,
completely delete the installed Splunk instance
reinstall Splunk from scratch,
copy the saved folders in the new installation.

I never saw this error, and I used this procedure many times.

the only way is opening a case to Splunk Support.

yesterday i installed latest version thats why i faced that issue but today i installed same version and facing isues like 1st issue which i post same
