Windows 7 64 bit installation error. Microsoft visual c++ 6034 Error loading python.exe

Im trying to install Splunk 5.0 in my windows 7 64 bit laptop. Downloaded the 64 bot splunk.msi and started the installation. The installation failed saying Microsoft visual c++ runtime failed to load the c library python.exe.

Can you guys get me to the solution for installing Splunk?

Bumping this question. I also have the same problem with windows 7 64bit.

Anyway to get this to work?

Same issue with Windows 8 64bit, splunk-6.0-182037-x64-release... Anybody cares to answer?

OK, I figured this one out. For some reason I had to rename my Python folder.

1) I uninstalled Splunk
2) I renamed my Python folder from:
C:\Python27
to:
C:\Python27_old
3) I reinstalled Splunk with no errors
